Whatever your needs, our services are designed to help you achieve optimal health and vitality.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture is a highly effective and time-honored practice that involves the precise insertion of fine needles into specific points along the body’s energy pathways, or meridians. This technique is designed to access and regulate the flow of qi (vital energy) to restore balance and promote natural healing. I specialize in a gentle and refined Japanese style of acupuncture, which emphasizes comfort and precision, making it an ideal choice for patients seeking a less invasive approach. Each treatment is thoughtfully tailored to address individual needs, fostering an environment of relaxation and optimal therapeutic benefit.
GuaSha
Traditional healing technique that involves gently scraping the skin with a specialized tool to create friction and stimulate circulation. This process helps to release exterior pathogens, promote the production of fresh blood, and improve the flow of qi within the body. By addressing areas of stagnation and tension, Gua Sha encourages natural detoxification and supports the body’s ability to heal itself. This method is particularly effective for alleviating pain, reducing inflammation, and enhancing overall vitality. Each session is conducted with care to ensure both comfort and maximum therapeutic benefit.
Auricular Therapy
Auricular therapy is a specialized technique that utilizes the ear’s intricate network of reflex points to influence and balance the body’s overall health. The ear, being in close proximity to the brain, serves as a powerful microsystem that represents the entire body, resembling an upside-down embryo—where the earlobe corresponds to the head and other points correspond to various body parts. By stimulating specific points on the ear, this therapy can effectively address a wide range of physical, emotional, and neurological conditions. Auricular therapy is a precise and non-invasive approach, offering a profound pathway to restoring harmony and promoting holistic well-being.
Moxibustion
Pain occurs when blood and Qi (energy) become stagnant. Moxibustion, or "moxi," helps to move Qi within the blood to restore balance and alleviate pain. Moxibustion involves burning mugwort, either directly on the skin, on a needle, or using specialized tools.
Dr. Campbell uses a device called the Lion Warmer, which contains a condensed stick of mugwort that heats up to apply therapeutic warmth. This device can also be used used on the head, without burning the hair.
The purpose of moxibustion is multifaceted: it alleviates pain, quells cold, eliminates dampness, disperses stasis, supplements Qi, nourishes the blood, and warms the meridians.
Cupping
Cupping is an ancient therapeutic technique that creates localized suction on the skin to enhance blood flow and stimulate the body’s natural healing processes. The suction is achieved through various methods, including heat, a mechanical hand pump, or negative pressure applied to silicone cups. This method effectively mobilizes blood, alleviates stagnation, and promotes detoxification. In addition to stationary cupping, moving the cups across the skin helps release fascial restrictions, offering benefits similar to those of a deep tissue massage. Cupping is a versatile treatment that reduces pain, relieves muscle tension, and restores balance, making it an invaluable component of holistic health care.
Reflexology
Reflexology is a therapeutic practice that involves applying precise pressure to specific areas on the feet, hands, or ears using specialized thumb, finger, and hand techniques, without the use of oil or lotion. This technique is based on the principle that these areas correspond to reflex zones throughout the body, creating a map of the body’s systems on the feet and hands. By stimulating these reflex points, reflexology promotes relaxation, alleviates stress, improves circulation, and supports the body's ability to restore balance. It is a non-invasive and holistic approach to enhancing overall well-being and addressing a wide range of physical and emotional concerns.
Scalp Acupuncture
Scalp acupuncture is a specialized technique that targets areas of the brain controlling body functions. It is particularly effective for neurological conditions such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, and multiple sclerosis (MS). This treatment helps stimulate brain activity, supporting recovery and improving motor functions. Scalp acupuncture requires advanced training and is a focused approach for addressing complex neurological issues.
Massage
Massage involves the manipulation of both superficial and deep layers of muscle and connective tissue using a variety of techniques. Sōtai, a Japanese form of massage, specifically utilizes finger and palm pressure along with stretching to balance the body’s energy and promote relaxation. These therapies help alleviate muscle tension, improve circulation, and enhance overall well-being, offering a holistic approach to physical and mental health.
Sōtai
The Sotai technique is a gentle, non-invasive therapy designed for individuals who may not tolerate needles. This restorative practice focuses on creating alignment and harmony within the body by actively listening to its natural directionality.
During a session, there is a dynamic dialogue between the practitioner and the receiver. Both work together to gently guide the body into balance, noticing patterns of movement and coordinating motions to restore equilibrium from right to left and top to bottom. The entire body is engaged, with a consistent return to the pelvic center as a grounding and anchoring point for the work.
Sessions are deeply relaxing and restorative, yet they invite active participation, helping the receiver become more aware of their body’s innate patterns and movements. Many clients leave feeling harmonized, vibrant, and reconnected to their physical and energetic selves.
This technique offers a nurturing alternative for those seeking holistic care without the use of needles, making it an excellent option for anyone seeking balance, alignment, and vitality.
Pulse Taking
Pulse taking is the most powerful diagnostic tool in my practice. I studied this technique with Dr. Tom Duckworth, who trained under Sensei Nakazomo, the renowned practitioner who brought acupuncture to Santa Fe from Japan. By assessing the pulse, I can measure the balance of energy within the body, which is essential for determining the most effective acupuncture treatment. The goal of acupuncture is to harmonize the body's energy, as reflected by the pulse, ensuring optimal health and healing.
